Key Responsibilities\n

As a Trauma-Focused Mental Health Counselor, you will be expected to:

• Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients’ backgrounds, trauma histories, and current mental health needs.
\n
• Develop tailored, individualized treatment plans that address the unique journey of each patient toward trauma recovery.
\n
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including but not limited to Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions that assist patients in processing their trauma while developing effective coping strategies.
\n
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated and comprehensive care that addresses all aspects of patient well-being.
\n
• Offer crisis intervention support during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring prompt and effective responses to patient needs.
\n
• Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, healthy coping mechanisms, and available resources in the community.
\n
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant clinical documentation in alignment with established legal and ethical standards.

• Participate in regular case consultations, team meetings, and professional development activities that emphasize trauma-informed care and best practices.

• Stay informed of the latest research and advancements in trauma therapy to continually enhance your practice.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on adult and adolescent patients who have experienced various forms of trauma, including but not limited to, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, as well as those dealing with complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and dissociative disorders. Your role will be pivotal in guiding these individuals through their healing journey, helping them regain control and achieve a sense of stability in their lives.

Qualifications\n

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT within the state of New York.
\n
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health therapy with a focus on trauma-related treatment.

Compensation and Benefits\n
