Work Environment

As a Physical Therapist at Desert Physical Therapy, you will work onsite in our modern outpatient office located in sunny Saint Petersburg. The office is equipped with state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment, ensuring you have the necessary tools to provide top-notch care. Your schedule will typically be Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend availability as needed, allowing for flexibility in patient appointments and treatments. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team where communication and teamwork play a crucial role in daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of pediatric patients, identifying their physical therapy needs and establishing individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's unique situation.
• Utilize evidence-based physical therapy practices to perform therapeutic techniques, exercises, and modalities to improve physical function and quality of life.
• Educate and train patients and their caregivers on effective strategies and exercises to facilitate recovery and enhance self-management capabilities.
• Document all aspects of patient care thoroughly and accurately, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards as well as internal policies.
• Maintain ongoing communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding treatment progress and adapt interventions as necessary.
• Supervise and mentor physical therapy assistants, aides, and students, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality care.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, case reviews, and professional education opportunities to enhance clinical skills and departmental practices.
• Engage in program development initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and expanding the referral base for pediatric physical therapy services.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on pediatric patients, ranging from infants to adolescents, who may be grappling with various physical challenges due to developmental conditions, injuries, or disabilities. You will work with each child to build trust and create a safe environment that promotes healing and growth, ensuring that they receive compassionate and effective care tailored to their specific developmental stage and needs.

Qualifications

• Current and valid State Physical Therapist license is required.
• A Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Strong clinical background and hands-on experience in a pediatric healthcare setting is preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to educate and interact effectively with children and their families.
• Proficient in physical therapy practices relevant to a pediatric population, including knowledge of developmental milestones and therapeutic interventions.
• Physical capabilities to perform the duties required of a PT, including lifting, carrying, and manual dexterity.

Preferred Experience

Experience caring for special populations such as children with neurological conditions, orthopedic conditions, or genetic disorders is a plus. Candidates who have participated in clinical internships or fellowships focused on pediatrics will be viewed favorably.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from USD 50,000 to 75,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
