Key Responsibilities\n

As a Trauma-Focused Mental Health Counselor, your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients' experiences with trauma and identify suitable treatment methodologies.

• Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans focused on trauma recovery, utilizing evidence-based approaches like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

• Facilitating individual and group therapy sessions designed to support patients as they process trauma, develop coping strategies, and enhance their personal resilience.

• Collaborating closely with psychiatrists and other health professionals to ensure integrated, holistic care for each patient.

• Providing crisis intervention and immediate support during trauma-related emergencies to ensure patient safety and stabilization.

• Educating patients and their families about trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and community resources to support ongoing recovery efforts.

• Maintaining precise and confidential documentation adhering to legal and ethical guidelines.

• Participating in team meetings, case consultations, and professional development sessions focused on trauma-informed care methodologies.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your patients will primarily consist of individuals dealing with various trauma-related issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. The patients often require a compassionate approach to help them manage their symptoms and navigate the recovery process effectively. Your ability to connect with them on a personal level will be crucial in fostering a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Qualifications\n

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid licensure as an LCSW , LCPC , or LMFT in the state of Illinois.

• An understanding of trauma-related disorders and a strong foundation in trauma-informed care principles.

Compensation and Benefits\n
