Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments through interviews and standardized tools to evaluate the psychological and emotional needs of children and adolescents.

• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in consideration of developmental stages as well as family dynamics to ensure effective interventions.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, and family systems therapy, to address a variety of mental health issues.

• Facilitate family therapy sessions that empower caregivers by equipping them with strategies to create nurturing and supportive home environments.
\n
• Collaborate closely with a team of child psychiatrists, educators, and other health professionals to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive treatment strategies are in place.

• Provide crisis intervention and immediate support during mental health emergencies, leading crisis debriefing sessions as needed.
\n
• Educate patients and their families about mental health consequences, available treatment options, and community resources to promote informed decision-making.
\n
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring confidentiality and care continuity.

• Regularly participate in team meetings and case consultations, sharing insights and contributions to foster a culture of collaboration.

• Engage in professional development initiatives to expand knowledge related to current research developments in child and adolescent mental health.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role primarily focuses on a diverse population of children and adolescents, ranging from early childhood to late teens, presenting with various mental health challenges. Counselors will assist patients experiencing emotional disturbances, behavioral issues, and developmental concerns, placing a strong emphasis on tailored and compassionate care. The integration of family involvement in treatment plans allows for enhanced support and better outcomes for young patients.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid licensure as either an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling, with a focus on therapeutic work with children and adolescents.

• In-depth knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders, therapeutic modalities, and evidenced-based practices is essential.

• Experience in delivering individual and family therapy to young clients, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a family-centered approach.

• Excellent communication abilities, with a capacity to build rapport and foster trust among children, adolescents, and their families.

• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and essential computer applications for documentation and communication.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
