Work Environment

The Surgical Center at Brighten City Hospital is designed to facilitate efficient, high-quality orthopedic surgical care. As a Physician Assistant working onsite, you will collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, the administrative team, and other healthcare professionals in a busy, fast-paced environment. Your hours will be Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule while serving a critical patient demographic.

Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of our Orthopedic team, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing comprehensive care for a diverse patient population undergoing arthroplasty procedures.
• Conducting thorough histories and physical examinations on new patients, including pre-operative and post-operative evaluations.
• Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating laboratory and diagnostic tests to guide clinical decision-making.
• Developing tailored care plans based on comprehensive analysis of diagnostic findings.
• Coordinating patient surgical journeys, including pre-op consultations, post-operative follow-ups, and rehabilitation oversight.
• Consulting with supervising orthopedic surgeons regarding complex cases and abnormal findings outside your scope of practice.
• Assisting in the operating room as the first assistant, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through careful preparation and collaboration.
• Prescribing medications and managing treatment regimens in accordance with established regulatory guidelines.
• Initiating referrals and consultations to specialists as needed for comprehensive patient care.
• Managing patient communications through calls, messages, and emails, while ensuring completion of necessary clinical documentation.
• Participating in weekly multi-disciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and optimize care plans.
• Engaging in research initiatives as appropriate, helping to identify patients suitable for studies and obtaining necessary consents.
• Delivering family-centered education, enhancing patients’ understanding of treatment options and recovery processes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses on a high-volume patient population dealing specifically with orthopedic conditions requiring surgical interventions, particularly arthroplasty. You will work with both new and established patients, ranging from pre-operative evaluations to post-surgery rehabilitation support. Ensuring patient comfort, safety, and understanding throughout their surgical journey is of utmost importance in this role.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

• A Master’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• A current certificate of registration from the Board of Registration of Physician Assistants.
• DEA registration and state-controlled substance registration.
• Current CPR (BLS) certification.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, two years of experience in orthopedic surgery is strongly preferred. This experience will enable you to effectively navigate the complexities of orthopedic care and support our commitment to exceptional surgical outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits
