Compass Mental Health Center is seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselors to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is crucial in delivering mental health support to individuals within a hospice setting, catering to a diverse population in Escondido, California. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and screenings to evaluate each patient's mental health needs, establishing tailored treatment plans that consider their unique circumstances.
• Provide short-term individual counseling and crisis intervention, addressing a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and end-of-life concerns for patients and their families.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and workshops that explore topics such as coping strategies, grief, and personal development, enhancing patient engagement and support.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and hospice staff, to ensure a seamless continuum of care that aligns with patient goals and organizational objectives.
• Engage proactively in outreach initiatives and mental health awareness campaigns to educate patients and families about available support resources.
• Maintain meticulous, confidential records that comply with legal and ethical standards, reflecting best practices in patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on patients receiving hospice care, a population with complex emotional needs related to terminal illness. Understanding their mental health challenges and providing empathetic support will be crucial to improving their quality of life during this sensitive time. You'll engage with patients and families to develop rapport and trust, crucial for facilitating therapeutic conversations.

Qualifications

• Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline is required, providing a strong theoretical foundation for practice.
• Exhibiting a profound understanding of mental health issues faced by hospice patients and the skills necessary to navigate their specific needs.
• Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, facilitating productive interactions with both patients and a variety of medical professionals.
• Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities and brief therapy techniques appropriate for the unique environment of a hospice center.
• A proven track record of thriving in fast-paced settings while managing diverse caseloads and prioritizing effectively.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in hospice, palliative care, or similar healthcare environments, demonstrating a solid understanding of the unique challenges encountered in these settings.
• A background in leading or facilitating group therapy or workshops focused on end-of-life care and grief counseling.
• Participation in staff development and training opportunities to enhance team collaboration and patient care strategies.

Compensation and Benefits

• A competitive salary range of USD 115,000 to 130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
