Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and preliminary interviews, meticulously documenting client progress from consultation through completion of treatment.

• Evaluate and assess clients' emotional and behavioral health, utilizing a variety of methodologies and evidence-based techniques to inform interventions.
\n
• Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to clients' unique needs, considering their preferences, family dynamics, and specific challenges.
\n
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, employing effective communication and therapeutic techniques to foster open dialogue and encourage client engagement.
\n
• Regularly monitor and assess client progress throughout treatment to ensure optimal outcomes, making adjustments to intervention strategies as needed.
\n
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including psychiatrists, medical doctors, and social workers, to create comprehensive intervention plans that support clients' recovery.

• Conduct follow-ups with clients and their healthcare team after hospitalization, ensuring continuity of care and addressing any ongoing mental health concerns.

• Assist clients’ families and primary caregivers in understanding mental health challenges, providing them with the tools to promote a supportive home environment.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

As a mental health counselor at Avella, you will work with diverse clients, including individuals, couples, families, and groups. Our client population encompasses those facing a variety of challenges, such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and addiction. The counseling sessions focus on creating safe spaces for clients to express themselves while empowering them to develop coping strategies and achieve personal growth.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas.

• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Experience in providing mental health counseling with demonstrable clinical insight and effective therapeutic techniques.

• Proficiency with electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR, ensuring accurate and efficient documentation of client care.
\n
• Deep understanding of mental health conditions, including physical and emotional health issues, as well as addiction disorders.
\n
• Familiarity with best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate treatment plans and successfully engage with clients and healthcare professionals.

• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a compassionate approach to client care.
\n

Preferred Experience\n

• Previous experience working in an outpatient setting, providing therapy to clients with complex mental health needs.

• Expertise handling cases with comorbid physical health conditions or clients in recovery from substance use disorders.

• Knowledge of the effects of psychotropic medications prescribed by healthcare specialists and their impact on treatment.
