The East Avenue Counseling Center is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our remote team. In this full-time role, you will play a pivotal part in engaging with individuals affected by trauma, offering them critically important mental health care. Work Environment\n

This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to integrate your professional responsibilities into your lifestyle. While our therapists primarily provide services from home, we emphasize the importance of connectivity with team members through virtual meetings and collaborative case consultations. Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required based on client needs.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough trauma-informed assessments to evaluate clients’ histories and needs, using standardized tools and therapeutic interviews.

• Develop and implement customized treatment plans that align with clients’ specific trauma recovery goals and resilience-building strategies.
\n
• Deliver a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), tailored to individual client needs.

• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, providing a nurturing space for clients to process their experiences, learn coping mechanisms, and share their stories.

• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and healthcare professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to integrated care for all patients.

• Provide crisis intervention support when necessary, helping clients navigate trauma-related emergencies effectively.
\n
• Educate clients and their families on trauma responses and available resources, promoting informed and empowered healing.

• Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation, adhering to all legal and ethical standards.

• Keep up-to-date with current research, developments, and best practices in trauma therapy by attending workshops and engaging in professional development.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The primary focus of your work will be with clients who have experienced varying degrees of trauma, including those diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. You will engage with diverse populations, providing culturally competent care that respects individual backgrounds and experiences. Your ability to foster trust and tailor interventions will directly impact the healing process for trauma survivors.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.

• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Connecticut is essential.

• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting is preferred.

• A strong foundational knowledge of trauma-related disorders and a variety of trauma-informed treatment modalities.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a compassionate and non-judgmental demeanor.

• Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiar with digital communication tools.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Experience\n

• Direct experience conducting trauma-focused therapies and interventions.

• Background in community mental health settings or similar outpatient environments is an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits\n
