Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations by performing initial interviews and documenting findings meticulously from the first consultation through treatment completion.
\n
• Develop tailored treatment plans that address the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups, taking into account their diverse backgrounds and mental health challenges.

• Lead individual and group therapy sessions, employing evidence-based methodologies and interventions to foster a safe and productive therapeutic space.
\n
• Monitor and evaluate clients' progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
\n
• Engage in multidisciplinary teamwork with psychiatrists, medical doctors, nurses, and other counselors to formulate and implement effective intervention strategies.

• Follow up with clients admitted to hospitals, working closely with attending physicians to coordinate care and ensure continuity in treatment.
\n
• Identify barriers to recovery and devise strategies to address them while offering support to families and primary caregivers dealing with mental health challenges.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Avella, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with patients from different life circumstances, helping them navigate their mental health journeys through compassion and expertise.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
\n
• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New Jersey.
\n
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.

Preferred Experience\n

• Previous experience working as a mental health counselor, preferably in a remote or community health setting.
\n
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as AVATAR, enabling efficient documentation and client management.
\n
• Knowledge of contemporary best practices as endorsed by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
\n
• A deep understanding of addiction disorders and the intersection of physical and emotional health issues.
\n
• Proven ability to build rapport with clients through a compassionate, empathetic approach.

Compensation and Benefits\n
