Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective physical therapy plans aimed at improving muscle function, preventing disability, and alleviating pain in clients as prescribed by their physicians.
• Supervise physical therapy assistants to ensure adherence to the treatment plans while providing guidance and oversight during therapy sessions.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' functional abilities through a variety of diagnostic tests, helping to tailor rehabilitation strategies to individual needs.
• Assess clients' home environments to make recommendations that will enhance rehabilitation and foster independence.
• Administer manual and non-manual therapeutic exercises, providing hands-on assistance to clients during their rehabilitation journey.
• Utilize physical agents and therapies, including traction and massage, to facilitate recovery and relieve discomfort.
• Assess, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices as necessary, advising clients and physicians on necessary modifications.
• Contribute to the interdisciplinary care team by participating in meetings, case reviews, and planning sessions to improve overall treatment strategies.
• Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in compliance with regulatory standards and agency policies.
• Educate clients and their families about physical therapy modalities and their roles in their wellness plans.
• Provide mentorship to Physical Therapy Assistants and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Be available for consultation and guidance as needed during therapy sessions provided by assistants.
• Complete additional assignments that reinforce the company's mission and objectives.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The physical therapist will work primarily with diverse patient populations, including elderly individuals, those recovering from surgery or injuries, and patients with chronic conditions. Your role is critical in empowering patients by restoring their functional abilities and enhancing their quality of life in a home setting.

Qualifications

• An earned Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) is required.
• Active and unencumbered Physical Therapist license in the state of Florida.
• Demonstrated expertise in manual therapy techniques and exercise program development.
• Proficient in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, particularly WebPT, for documentation and patient management.
• Strong understanding of current physical therapy practices, supported by evidence-based research.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in home health settings is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills with an aptitude for building relationships with patients and their families.
• A passion for patient advocacy and commitment to improving patient outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits
