Full-Time School Nurse Practitioner

Work Environment

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will work onsite at a local school, providing healthcare services to students ranging from early childhood to adolescence. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed health assessments and physical examinations for students to establish diagnoses and tailor treatment plans based on individual needs.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe appropriate medications and therapeutic procedures as necessary.
• Educate students and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and proper management of chronic conditions, fostering a proactive approach to health.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including school staff and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive care for students, facilitating necessary referrals and follow-up appointments.
• Maintain precise electronic medical records, adhering to regulatory standards and best practices to ensure accurate patient documentation and data integrity.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your focus will primarily be on students within the school system, where you will manage a wide spectrum of health concerns, from minor injuries and acute illnesses to ongoing health issues such as asthma or allergies. By ensuring a continuous support system that encompasses physical health, mental health, and wellness education, you will play a pivotal role in the overall health outcomes of our younger clientele.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner licensure in New York State.
• Certification in a recognized Nurse Practitioner specialty area is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, families, and colleagues.
• A proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment and support a collaborative approach to patient care.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in a pediatric or school-based health setting is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth services.
• Proven expertise in health education and promotion, particularly in a school environment.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range between USD 150,000 and 160,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
