The Queer Self Care Mental Therapy Center is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Counselor to join our team as a full-time professional, specializing in trauma-informed care. This remote position involves providing critical support to individuals recovering from trauma-related experiences, contributing significantly to their mental wellbeing and resilience.

Work Environment\n

Our outpatient practice operates remotely, providing flexibility while also allowing for daily interactions with a supportive team. We understand that each patient's journey is unique and may require occasional adjustments in scheduling to accommodate their specific needs. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with opportunities for flexible hours based on patient demand.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough trauma-informed assessments to understand patients' histories and determine appropriate treatment plans.

• Develop and implement personalized treatment strategies that focus on healing trauma and fostering resilience.
\n
• Utilize evidence-based interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate patient recovery.

• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at encouraging emotional processing and coping skills development.
\n
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team members to provide integrated and seamless care for patients.
\n
• Provide crisis intervention services and support during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of clients.
\n
• Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available resources for ongoing support and healing.
\n
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
\n
• Engage in case consultations, team meetings, and professional development to continuously enhance therapeutic practices.

• Stay informed of the latest research and techniques in trauma therapy to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Our center primarily serves trauma survivors, including individuals dealing with the effects of complex trauma, PTSD, and dissociative disorders. We are particularly focused on supporting clients from marginalized communities, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, who often face additional layers of trauma and discrimination. Our approach is centered on understanding each patient as a whole, recognizing their unique experiences, and guiding them toward recovery with respect and dignity.

Qualifications\n

• A master's or doctorate degree in a relevant discipline such as social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid license as an LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or psychologist in the state of Texas.
\n
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and an ability to apply this knowledge in clinical settings.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating compassion and a nonjudgmental attitude in all interactions.

• Demonstrated experience in trauma-focused therapy methodologies is highly beneficial.

Preferred Experience\n

• At least two years of post-licensure experience in clinical settings, specifically in trauma-related practices.

• Experience in leading therapeutic groups or workshops focused on trauma recovery.

• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant software applications.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary for this full-time role ranges from USD 90,000 to 105,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
