Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, engaging in history-taking and performing physical examinations to evaluate patient health.
• Order, interpret, and act on laboratory results, imaging studies, and other diagnostic tests to inform decision-making.
• Collaborate closely with supervising physicians to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Perform clinical procedures such as suturing, wound care, and catheter placements, ensuring all activities are within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, utilizing our electronic medical record (EMR) system effectively.
• Educate patients on disease prevention, treatment options, and aftercare, fostering a supportive environment for their health journey.
• Participate actively in daily rounds and clinical discussions, contributing to case reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
• Stay abreast of current medical practices and comply with hospital protocols and regulatory standards.
• Engage in continuous professional development to uphold your licensure and board certification.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatric to geriatric individuals requiring various eye care treatments. Our focus encompasses routine eye exams, surgical consultations, and ongoing management of chronic eye conditions. Understanding patient backgrounds and establishing rapport is essential to providing tailored care and ensuring optimal health outcomes.

Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• A current and valid PA license in the State of New Jersey, along with certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• DEA registration with prescriptive authority in New Jersey.
• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in a hospital or specialty setting.
• Strong diagnostic and procedural skills are essential for effective patient care.
• Proficiency with EMR systems, particularly Epic, is highly beneficial.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying shifts, including potential weekends or evenings as department needs dictate.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in an ophthalmology or optometry setting would be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits
