Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed, culturally sensitive mental health assessments to gather comprehensive information and understand each patient's unique experiences and needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each patient's cultural and personal background.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions aimed at addressing various mental health concerns, fostering resilience, and improving overall well-being.
• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure clients receive coordinated and comprehensive care.
• Offer immediate crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing mental health emergencies, ensuring a calm and effective response.
• Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and available community resources, empowering them to make informed choices.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards, ensuring the highest level of care and accountability.
• Participate actively in team meetings, case conferences, and cultural competency training sessions to enhance professional development and improve service delivery.
• Stay informed on current research, best practices, and evolving cultural considerations to effectively shape your therapeutic approaches.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will largely focus on serving clients from diverse backgrounds who may face unique cultural hurdles in accessing mental health care. This includes members of ethnic and cultural minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, and immigrant populations seeking culturally competent therapy. Your expertise will help address their specific needs while promoting a supportive healing environment that respects their experiences.

Qualifications

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of New Jersey.
• A deep understanding of various mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment methodologies.
• Experience providing individual and group therapy using culturally responsive approaches and inclusive practices.
• Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and computer applications.
• A commitment to maintaining professional boundaries, adhering to ethical guidelines, and ensuring patient confidentiality.
• The ability to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two years of experience providing therapy in a clinical setting, emphasizing work with multicultural populations.
• Familiarity with community resources and referral networks that support diverse client needs.
• Continuing education in cultural competency or specialized training in diversity and inclusion in therapeutic practices.

Compensation and Benefits
