Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of students' emotional and social needs, developing individualized support plans based on each client's specific strengths and challenges.
• Provide crisis intervention services and support for students experiencing acute emotional distress, ensuring they receive the appropriate care during critical moments.
• Facilitate sessions with clients, offering therapeutic support and guidance while really listening to their concerns, fears, and aspirations.
• Keep accurate and confidential records of all client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Collaborate with teachers, school administration, and other community organizations to coordinate services and enhance access to resources for families.
• Participate in regular case conferences, offering insights related to student wellbeing and academic performance, and be prepared to provide evidence in court if necessary.
• Stay informed about community resources and collaborate with external agencies for referrals and follow-ups to ensure comprehensive support for clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on students attending local schools, many of whom may face socio-economic challenges, mental health issues, familial instability, or have experienced trauma. This role is critical in providing the early intervention and support necessary to foster resilience, enhance coping strategies, and ultimately improve academic and social outcomes for these children and adolescents.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution, ensuring a solid theoretical foundation in clinical social work practices.
• Avalid State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is a must, indicating your knowledge and commitment to ethical and professional standards.
• Proven clinical experience in delivering social work and counseling services to diverse populations, particularly within educational or community settings.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with students, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
• A deep understanding of cultural competence and sensitivity to provide equitable and inclusive support for clients from various backgrounds.
• A strong commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in training and workshops aimed at enhancing your skills in crisis intervention and mental health care.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in school-based mental health services or a similar clinical environment, demonstrating knowledge of the unique challenges faced by students in the educational system.
• Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Trauma-Informed Care, allowing you to effectively support clients in distress.
• Experience engaging with children and adolescents from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, showcasing your adaptability in tailoring interventions to meet diverse needs.

Compensation and Benefits
