Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct individualized and group therapy sessions, either in the home environment or our outpatient center, focusing on the specific needs of the child or adolescent.

• Implement therapeutic strategies for anger management, coping mechanisms, and social skills development to mitigate high-risk behaviors, including self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
\n
• Enhance caregiver decision-making capabilities to better address and manage in-home behavioral challenges effectively.
\n
• Collaborate continuously with the Child Family Treatment Team and multidisciplinary professionals to create a unified support network for the family.
\n
• Maintain thorough documentation including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with designated deadlines and standards.

• Participate in monthly meetings to discuss cases, share insight, and contribute recommendations for enhancing treatment outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The position primarily focuses on children and adolescents aged 3 to 20 who are experiencing developmental and intellectual disabilities. As a therapist, you will work closely with these youth and their families to provide tailored support that promotes positive behavioral changes and enhances overall well-being.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related therapeutic field is required.

• An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license in New York is mandatory.
\n
• Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours (4-7 pm); weekend availability is advantageous.
\n
• Proven experience in providing positive behavior support is essential.
\n
• A valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle are necessary for community engagement.

• Candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, to ensure the safety of clients.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience working with children and adolescents, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is highly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits\n
