Key Responsibilities

• Conduct individual therapy sessions tailored to children’s needs, as well as facilitate group therapy sessions in our outpatient office when required.
• Employ best practices in anger management, coping strategies, and social skills training to mitigate high-risk behaviors like self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
• Work closely with caretakers to enhance their decision-making capacities in managing in-home behavioral challenges, effectively creating a supportive environment for the children.
• Collaborate consistently with the Child Family Treatment Team and other allied professionals to develop cohesive, multi-disciplinary treatment plans that prioritize the child’s well-being.
• Maintain accurate documentation within designated timelines, including intake forms, treatment plans, and progress notes, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulations.
• Participate in monthly team meetings and submit actionable recommendations that contribute to continuous program improvement.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on children aged 3-20 who are facing developmental and intellectual challenges. You will engage with families from diverse backgrounds, providing culturally competent care, particularly for clients who are bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese. By addressing their unique needs through tailored interventions, you will be instrumental in fostering improved psychological resilience and emotional regulation in children, thereby enhancing their overall quality of life.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a closely related discipline is required.
• Possession of an active and unrestricted LMFT license is mandatory.
• Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours, specifically from 4-7 pm, with flexibility for weekend hours considered a plus.
• Experience in providing positive behavior support strategies is essential.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle are required for potential travel to client locations.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is mandatory.

Preferred Experience

• Previous work with children experiencing developmental or intellectual disabilities is highly preferred, with a specific focus on ages 3-20.
• Experience with culturally diverse populations, particularly bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) communication skills, will be beneficial in providing effective care.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is between USD 60,000 and 80,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
