Community-Focused Nurse Practitioner - Full-Time Position

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner for a full-time position at the US Veterans Health Care Clinic located in Oyster Bay, New York. This role will predominantly involve providing community health services in a school setting, where you'll address the unique healthcare needs of students and their families. The working hours are Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, offering a balanced work-life commitment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Develop and implement tailored health education programs in collaboration with schools and community organizations, promoting preventative health practices.
• Deliver culturally sensitive medical care tailored to the diverse needs of your patients, ensuring their rights and access to healthcare services are prioritized.
• Maintain accurate medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations and other compliance standards, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
• Participate actively in community outreach initiatives and health fairs, providing health screenings and information to raise awareness about available services.
• Stay informed on current trends in community health, evidence-based practices, and legislative changes that affect healthcare delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus will be on providing care to school-aged children and their families, including veterans and active-duty service members. You will play a key role in addressing the healthcare needs of underserved populations in our community, advocating for their health and well-being while navigating the complexities of the healthcare system.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, candidates must possess:

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, equipping you with comprehensive clinical knowledge.
• Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) accredited by the ANCC or AANP.
• A current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (APRN) license in New York State, alongside an active DEA# and NPI#.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, enabling effective patient care and decision-making.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience is required, 3-5 years of experience in community health or public health settings is preferred. You should also demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective interactions with a diverse patient population and supporting health literacy initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 150,000 to 160,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
