Work Environment

This position is based in our state-of-the-art hospital facility located in Garden City, New York. The energetic work environment allows for direct interaction with patients, surgical teams, and a variety of healthcare professionals. You will work in a fast-paced clinic setting, providing both inpatient services and outpatient follow-up care. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 hours daily, with the potential for occasional overtime as patient needs demand.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced practitioner care to individuals with orthopedic conditions, working closely under the supervision of a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.
• Conduct thorough patient evaluations, diagnosing conditions and crafting tailored treatment plans informed by clinical evidence.
• Interpret and analyze radiology reports and laboratory studies to inform clinical decision-making.
• Document patient histories, prescribe medications, and coordinate comprehensive therapy programs to facilitate recovery.
• Assist in surgical procedures as needed, bringing expertise in postoperative care and rehabilitation strategies.
• Manage follow-up care, ensuring continuity throughout various stages of the patient care process, from preoperative consultations to discharge planning.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The focus of this position will be primarily on patients undergoing orthopedic surgery or treatment for musculoskeletal issues. We cater to a diverse demographic, treating individuals ranging from young athletes with sports-related injuries to geriatric patients experiencing age-related musculoskeletal conditions. You will be instrumental in educating patients about their conditions and the importance of adherence to treatment plans to optimize recovery and functionality.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of experience as a Physician Assistant, with direct experience in orthopedic procedures and wound care.
• Completion of a Master's degree or PhD from an accredited Physician Assistant Program is mandatory.
• A valid state Physician Assistant license and national certification are required.
• DEA certification must be obtained within three months of employment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
• Ability to work within hospital credentialing and billing requirements, ensuring compliance at all times.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and accommodate physical demands associated with the role.
• Successful completion of background checks, drug screenings, and medical evaluations as per hospital policy.

Preferred Experience

• Proven experience in handling urgent referrals from community physicians, demonstrating the ability to prioritize and manage complex patient needs.
• A fellowship in a relevant orthopedic specialty is considered a plus and will enhance your candidacy.

Compensation and Benefits

The position comes with a competitive salary range of USD 160,000 – 200,000 annually , commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
