Position Overview

Care Medical is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Interventional Pain Management Physician Assistant to join our team in Astoria, New York. In this full-time, onsite role within a hospital setting, you will play a pivotal part in improving the quality of life for patients dealing with acute and chronic pain conditions. With an annual salary range of USD 140,000 – 180,000, this position offers competitive compensation along with additional performance bonuses up to $20,000.

Work Environment

Located in Astoria, NY, our facility provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere, complete with state-of-the-art medical technology and a supportive community of healthcare professionals. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with physicians, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and chiropractors to provide the best integrated care for our patients. The role offers flexibility with a work schedule that accommodates either five days (Monday to Friday) or four days (Monday to Thursday) per week, from 10 AM to 6 PM or 11 AM to 7 PM.

Key Responsibilities

As an Interventional Pain Management Physician Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough patient consultations and follow-up evaluations, including reviewing medical histories and performing physical examinations.
• Performing specialized procedures such as ultrasound-guided trigger point injections, nerve blocks, and joint injections.
• Reviewing and analyzing patient lab results and diagnostic studies to formulate effective pain management plans.
• Caring for patients with acute and chronic pain, monitoring therapeutic responses, administering injections, and prescribing medications as part of their treatment plans.
• Triage patient calls, address medical emergencies, and provide recommendations for pain management procedures.
• Documenting all patient interactions and procedures meticulously in the EMR system, Modernizing Medicine, to ensure accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Coordinating care with other healthcare providers to develop comprehensive treatment strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
• Implementing health promotion principles in patient education and referral processes.
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and actively engaging in community outreach to promote our services and foster new patient referrals.
• Collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals to strategize on the best interdisciplinary approaches for optimal patient outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily engage with individuals suffering from various pain conditions, including but not limited to joint pain, back pain, and neuropathic pain. The demographic of patients served ranges from young adults to seniors, all seeking effective pain relief through personalized treatment approaches. Your role as a physician assistant is crucial in delivering hope and compassionate care to these patients.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field.
• A valid PA license in New York State.
• At least 1 year of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in pain management or a similar specialty.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A patient-centered approach with a focus on delivering high-quality medical care.

Preferred Experience

While a year of experience is required, candidates with additional training or certifications in pain management techniques, such as ultrasound-guided injections or pain assessment methodology, will be highly regarded. Familiarity with EMR systems, particularly Modernizing Medicine, will be a plus to streamline patient care processes effectively.
