Work Environment

This position is offered in a remote setting, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance while still participating in our outpatient office operations. Our practice operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts required depending on patient needs. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of geriatric psychiatrists and mental health counselors, fostering a culture of teamwork and mutual support.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments with a focus on understanding the unique needs and circumstances of older adults.
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans that consider cognitive changes, social dynamics, and physical health challenges.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including both individual therapy and family counseling, tailored specifically to address geriatric psychiatric conditions.
• Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
• Offer crisis intervention support during mental health emergencies for elderly patients, ensuring a prompt and effective response to their needs.
• Educate both patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment pathways, and available community resources to empower them in their care.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation that adheres to all legal and ethical standards.
• Actively participate in team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing professional development initiatives to stay current in the field.
• Engage with the latest research and best practices in geriatric psychiatry to continually enhance service delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, a demographic that often faces multifaceted mental health challenges. You will work closely with elderly patients dealing with a variety of conditions, helping to improve their quality of life through tailored therapeutic strategies. Your role is crucial in identifying potential issues early and developing solutions that help foster a supportive community for older adults.

Qualifications

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Texas.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with elderly populations, supported by internships or employment experience in geriatric mental health settings.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in conducting geriatric assessments and designing treatment plans tailored for older adults.
• Previous involvement with outpatient mental health clinics or similar healthcare environments focused on elderly patients.
• Proficiency in utilizing telehealth technologies to conduct remote therapy sessions as necessitated by the position.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD $75,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
