Family Matters Care Consultants is actively seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to provide specialized care for individuals who have experienced trauma. Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Counselor at Family Matters Care Consultants, your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to accurately identify patients' history and specific needs.
• Creating personalized treatment plans focused on trauma recovery, utilizing evidence-based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
• Facilitating individual and group therapy sessions aimed at helping patients navigate their trauma experiences, develop coping strategies, and foster a supportive community.
• Coordinating with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals for integrated treatment approaches, ensuring comprehensive care for all patients.
• Providing crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, demonstrating a calm and composed demeanor to sensitive situations.
• Offering education and resources to patients and their families regarding trauma responses and coping mechanisms.
• Maintaining detailed and confidential patient records in accordance with legal and ethical standards, using electronic health record (EHR) systems proficiently.
• Engaging in case consultations, team meetings, and professional development seminars focused on trauma-informed care.
• Remaining current on the latest research and advancements in trauma therapy techniques to enhance therapeutic effectiveness.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily involve clients who are trauma survivors, particularly those struggling with PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. You will be equipped with the training to support individuals across a variety of age groups and backgrounds, and your expertise will play a critical role in instilling hope and facilitating recovery in their mental health journeys.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.
• Strong knowledge of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed care philosophies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to patient interaction.
• Competence in managing high-stress situations while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and other relevant computer applications.
• The ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience is preferred, we value diverse backgrounds that bring unique insights into trauma therapy. Experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and familiarity with current best practices will be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits
