Key Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, your daily tasks will include:

• Directing and administering individualized physical therapy treatments, aimed at alleviating pain, enhancing mobility, and preventing further disability in patients.
• Conducting thorough evaluations to assess patients' functional levels through diagnostic tests related to muscle, nerve, joint, and overall physical abilities.
• Overseeing the care provided by physical therapy assistants to ensure adherence to the established care plans, fostering an effective team dynamic.
• Evaluating and recommending adaptations within the patient's home environment to promote greater independence in daily activities.
• Teaching and supervising patients in therapeutic exercises, motivating them to engage in non-manual exercises and functional activities to support their rehabilitation goals.
• Administering various physical therapy interventions, including manual therapies, traction, and the application of physical agents, as required.
• Assisting in the fitting and adjusting of orthotic and prosthetic devices, as well as making recommendations for modifications to optimize patient functionality.
• Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings to review care plans, evaluate progress, and adjust therapies as needed.
• Maintaining comprehensive clinical records, including assessments, care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
• Engaging with patients and their families to provide guidance on therapy devices and overall wellness strategies.
• Completing timely documentation and reporting in accordance with organizational standards and policies.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will be working primarily with patients dealing with orthopedic conditions, ranging from post-operative recovery to chronic joint and muscle pain. This role requires you to assess not only their physical capabilities but also their emotional and psychological wellness, ensuring a holistic approach to recovery. By fostering a supportive and encouraging environment, you will empower patients to take an active role in their rehabilitation journey.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of skills and qualifications, including:

• A Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current and valid physical therapy licensure in the state of Virginia with good standing.
• Certification in CPR and a valid driver's license with automobile insurance.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to make informed decisions rapidly.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team, with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

While one year of clinical experience in acute care or homecare settings is preferred, we value diverse backgrounds and will consider all applications. Previous experience providing orthopedic care and familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid regulations will be advantageous. Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
