Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Location: Florence, SC 29506
Schedule: Full-time, school-based (Part-time candidates will also be considered)
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Rate: Starting at $38/hour (dependent on experience)

Position Overview

Birch Agency is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to support students in school-based settings throughout Florence, South Carolina . These opportunities allow educators to make a meaningful impact by providing individualized academic, behavioral, and developmental support to students with diverse learning needs.

Current openings include a variety of classroom settings, including:

• Special Pre-K Classroom

• Autism Self-Contained Classroom

• Additional elementary, middle, and high school special education opportunities based on district needs

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and educational goals.

• Provide differentiated instruction for students with a variety of disabilities and learning challenges.

• Deliver services in inclusive, self-contained, push-in, or pull-out models depending on student placement.

• Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies.

• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.

• Participate in IEP meetings, staff trainings, and multidisciplinary planning sessions.

• Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.

• Foster a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes student growth and independence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field preferred.

• Active South Carolina Special Education teaching certification required (or ability to obtain through reciprocity/provisional pathways).

• Experience working with students with mild/moderate, moderate/severe disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or early childhood special education preferred.

• Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

• Passion for supporting students with diverse educational and behavioral needs.

• Ability to maintain accurate records and meet compliance timelines.
