Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and document client progress from initial consultations through treatment completion.
• Develop tailored treatment and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups, ensuring each plan aligns with best practices and standards.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing therapeutic techniques appropriate for various mental health conditions.
• Monitor client progress meticulously, adjusting treatment plans as necessary based on outcomes and feedback.
• Collaborate actively with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to create cohesive intervention strategies.
• Follow up with external healthcare providers for clients requiring hospitalization, ensuring continuity of care and a smooth transition upon discharge.
• Identify and mitigate behaviors that may hinder recovery, employing proactive measures to enhance therapeutic effectiveness.
• Offer guidance and support to family members and caregivers of clients, equipping them with strategies to manage mental health challenges effectively.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work with a diverse client population, ranging from adolescents to adults, experiencing various mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Understanding the unique dynamics of each individual or family scenario is crucial, as you will engage in therapeutic practices that are sensitive to cultural, socio-economic, and personal backgrounds. You will dive deep into creating an atmosphere of trust and respect, ensuring that each client feels safe and heard throughout their treatment journey.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required.
• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMFT, LPC, LCSW) in the state of Arizona.
• A passing score on relevant examinations such as the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Strong familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly experience with AVATAR or comparable platforms.
• Thorough understanding of the impact of psychiatric medications as well as knowledge relating to co-occurring physical health issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on building rapport and trust with clients.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in a mental health counseling setting, demonstrating a solid foundation in clinical techniques and methodologies.
• Experience with addiction disorders and the nuances related to treating mental health alongside substance use challenges.
• Active engagement with the latest practices recommended by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and familiarity with contemporary treatment modalities.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development through continuing education in mental health counseling.
