Position Overview

Valor Therapy Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team as a full-time remote Mental Health Counselor. This role is essential in providing high-quality therapy and support to individuals struggling with mood disorders, facilitating their journey towards recovery and well-being. Work Environment

This position offers a fully remote working arrangement, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance while still engaging with a supportive community of fellow mental health professionals. Our clinic operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing a structured framework within which you can thrive both professionally and personally.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough evaluations to determine the intensity, frequency, and duration of clients' mood disorder symptoms, ensuring a precise understanding of their mental health needs.
• Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific goals, preferences, and lifestyle.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic methodologies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to implement treatment strategies that effectively address clients' challenges.
• Educate clients and their families about mood disorders, available treatment options, and self-care techniques to empower them on their wellness journey.
• Monitor client progress through regular assessments, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary based on feedback and evolving needs.
• Engage in collaborative care efforts with psychiatrists and other medical professionals to ensure holistic treatment for clients.
• Stay informed about the latest research and advancements in mood disorder treatment to continually enhance the effectiveness of therapeutic approaches.
• Maintain meticulous documentation and keep accurate, confidential records in line with legal and ethical guidelines.
• Participate actively in case consultations and team meetings, contributing insights that advance overall client care.
• Advocate for clients’ mental health needs, fostering understanding and reducing stigma associated with mental health issues.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on individuals experiencing a range of mood disorders, including but not limited to depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders. Clients may include diverse populations such as individuals facing homelessness, refugees, or victims of domestic abuse, emphasizing the need for a trauma-informed approach within therapy.

Qualifications

• Active California state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.
• Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related mental health field is essential.
• Proven ability to establish a trusting and secure therapeutic relationship, characterized by strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated empathy, a nonjudgmental attitude, and respect towards clients’ life experiences and challenges.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills to ensure that administrative responsibilities and client care are prioritized efficiently.

Preferred Experience

While the core qualifications focus on licensing and education, experience in working with clients facing mood disorders, particularly within community health settings, is advantageous. Familiarity with evidence-based practices and the ability to engage with diverse population groups will be highly regarded.
