Work Environment

This role is situated in a dynamic educational environment, where you will collaborate closely with school personnel, educators, and local health organizations. You will operate onsite at schools, promoting a culture of health among students and staff. The work schedule typically runs from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with some flexibility required for evening clinics until 8:00 p.m. Participation in community outreach events and health fairs may occur on weekends, allowing further community engagement and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health assessments and screenings for students and their families, ensuring each individual’s unique healthcare needs are met.
• Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic health conditions by developing tailored care plans that promote wellness and preventive health.
• Collaborate with educational staff and community organizations to facilitate health education and awareness programs targeting lifestyle changes and health maintenance.
• Engage in culturally sensitive care practices, promoting understanding and respect for the diverse backgrounds of patients.
• Coordinate referrals to specialty providers and ensure follow-up care is accessible for all patients, thereby promoting continuity of care.
• Maintain complete and accurate medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies, utilizing electronic health records systems when appropriate.
• Participate in health outreach initiatives, including health fairs and seminars, to conduct screenings, provide health information, and raise awareness of critical health issues.
• Stay informed on community health trends, best practices in clinical care, and relevant public health policies to enhance service delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner will primarily focus on school-aged children and their families, working closely with parents, teachers, and school staff to address common health concerns such as vaccination needs, chronic illness management, and mental health support. You’ll advocate for underrepresented populations, ensuring they have equal opportunities to receive quality healthcare.

Qualifications

• Current Nurse Practitioner certification and an active New Jersey nursing license.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, with a Master’s degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective relationships with patients and team members.
• A deep commitment to social justice and health equity, particularly in the context of working with underserved populations.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and a keen ability to make sound medical decisions in a variety of healthcare settings.

Preferred Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of three years of clinical experience, with preference given to those who have worked in community health, public health, or educational settings. Experience in pediatric care and an understanding of the unique health challenges faced by children and adolescents are highly desirable.

• A competitive salary range between USD 150,000 and 180,000 per year , based on experience and credentials.
