Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Nystrom & Family Care Therapy, you will:

• Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients' experiences and histories that affect their current well-being.

• Craft individualized treatment plans with specific, evidence-based interventions aimed at promoting trauma recovery and overall resilience.

• Utilize therapeutic models including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to effectively treat your patients.

• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at helping clients process trauma, develop coping mechanisms, and foster healing.
\n
• Engage in regular collaborations with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary team members to ensure a cohesive approach to patient care.

• Actively participate in crisis intervention efforts, providing immediate support during trauma-related emergencies.
\n
• Educate patients and their families about trauma reactions, effective coping strategies, and available support resources.
\n
• Maintain precise and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, utilizing our electronic health record (EHR) system.

• Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and continuous professional development activities targeting trauma-informed care.

• Keep informed about the latest developments and research in trauma therapy to continually enhance your practice.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be individuals impacted by trauma. This includes a diverse range of clients dealing with PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Many of our clients have unique backgrounds and experiences, and you will have the opportunity to tailor your approach to their specific needs, ensuring that they receive personalized care that respects their individuality.

Qualifications\n

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.
\n
• Demonstrated expertise in trauma-related disorders and a strong understanding of trauma-informed treatment modalities.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with clients in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.

• The capability to remain calm under pressure, particularly in high-stress or crisis situations.

• Proficiency in electronic health record systems and computer applications.

• A collaborative mindset, with a commitment to working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience\n

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is required, we favor candidates with a strong background in trauma-focused therapies and interventions. Familiarity with evidence-based practices and the ability to implement individualized treatment plans will set you apart as a candidate.
