Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough individual and group counseling sessions, providing compassionate and evidence-based support aligned with treatment goals.
• Perform detailed Bio-psychosocial assessments to understand clients' needs, experiences, and challenges.
• Collaborate with clients to establish, review, and revise personalized treatment plans to ensure effective therapy outcomes.
• Develop and implement aftercare and discharge plans, facilitating a successful transition for clients post-treatment.
• Maintain a consistent schedule of direct service hours to ensure availability for clients at regular intervals.
• Coordinate with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders involved in client care, ensuring a comprehensive approach to treatment.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices in mental health counseling.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on serving individuals with co-occurring disorders and those dealing with issues related to chemical dependence. Our patient base includes adults, children, and families from diverse backgrounds. As a therapist at New Horizons, you are expected to employ a non-judgmental and accepting attitude to foster trust and openness, which are crucial for effective therapeutic relationships.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field is required.
• A valid license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of New York.
• At least 2 years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting, demonstrating competence in providing therapy services.
• A proven capacity to engage with clients from diverse populations, including substantial experience in marriage and family therapy.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling the building of therapeutic relationships with clients and collaboration with team members.
• Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented setting.
• A history of working with chemically dependent individuals is advantageous, enhancing your ability to support this specific client population.

Preferred Experience

• Direct experience in addiction counseling, providing you with the specific tools and understanding needed to effectively engage clients with substance use disorders.
• A positive, empathetic, and acceptance-driven approach is essential for success in this role, ensuring that you create a safe space for clients seeking support.

Compensation and Benefits
