Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed assessments to gauge patients' trauma history and develop appropriate treatment plans tailored to their unique needs.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to facilitate healing.

• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, promoting an atmosphere of trust and safety where clients can process their experiences and learn coping strategies.

• Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide an integrated approach to patient care, ensuring all aspects of a patient's treatment are addressed.

• Offer crisis intervention services during emergencies, providing immediate support and developing safety plans for clients in distress.

• Educate clients and their families on trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and the resources available to support recovery.

• Maintain accurate and confidential progress notes in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Engage in regular case consultations and professional development opportunities to stay current with advancements in trauma-informed care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Therapist at A Step Ahead Counseling Center, you will primarily work with a diverse group of individuals who have experienced trauma. This includes survivors of abuse, those coping with the lasting effects of PTSD, and individuals struggling with complex trauma and dissociative issues. Your approach will focus on cultivating resilience in clients and empowering them to overcome their challenges through compassionate therapeutic relationships.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid license to practice as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York state.

• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and therapeutic modalities.

• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to maintain a non-judgmental and supportive approach in clinical practice.

• Proficiency with technology, including EHR systems and telehealth platforms, is mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits\n
