Mental Health Counselor - Remote Full-Time Position

Work Environment

This role is performed in a remote setting, allowing counselors to work from their preferred location while maintaining strong communication through secure telehealth platforms. Our clinic utilizes an electronic health record system to document treatment plans and client progress, making collaboration with other healthcare professionals seamless and efficient. Counselors will engage in regular virtual meetings with peers and supervisors to review cases, discuss best practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and document findings accurately, from initial assessments through to the final stages of treatment.
• Develop tailored intervention strategies and recovery plans to address the specific needs of clients across various demographics.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, adapting therapeutic techniques to enhance engagement and effectiveness.
• Monitor client progress throughout the treatment plan, making necessary adjustments to strategies based on ongoing assessments.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other mental health specialists, to create cohesive and effective care plans.
• Follow up with hospital-based care teams for clients requiring inpatient services, ensuring continuity and coordination of care.
• Actively identify potential barriers to recovery, educating clients and their families about preventative strategies and coping mechanisms.
• Support family members and primary caregivers in understanding and managing mental health challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our clientele includes individuals across all ages experiencing a range of mental health conditions, such as anxiety disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship challenges, and more. Counselors are expected to foster a compassionate and empathetic environment, helping clients navigate their healing journeys and empowering them through evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Qualifications

• Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMFT, LPC, LCSW) in Pennsylvania.
• Successful completion of professional licensure examinations (NCE and/or NCMHCE).
• Proven experience in mental health counseling, with a strong foundation in therapeutic methodologies.
• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems such as AVATAR to manage client documentation and treatment plans.
• Awareness of the interplay between physical health, mental health, and addiction disorders.
• Familiarity with the best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on compassionate and clear interactions.
• Strong interpersonal skills, exhibiting a genuine concern for clients’ mental well-being.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with diverse populations, including at-risk groups and those from varied cultural backgrounds.
• Involvement in crisis intervention and management strategies.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and how they affect client treatment outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits

Great Lake Behavioral Health Center offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus a sign-on bonus.
