Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct individual in-home treatment sessions and group therapy in our outpatient clinic, adapting therapy approaches based on the specific needs of children and families.

• Implement strategies to reduce high-risk behaviors, such as self-injurious and aggressive behaviors, through effective anger management techniques and skill-building activities.

• Enhance decision-making skills for both children and caregivers to improve family dynamics and manage in-home behavioral concerns.

• Collaborate with the Child Family Treatment Team and other specialists, contributing to integrative care plans for each client.
\n
• Accurately document treatment plans, progress notes, and other critical documentation within established timeframes to ensure compliance and continuity of care.

• Participate in team meetings, offering insights and recommendations to further enhance our treatment capabilities and address emerging challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Our work primarily involves supporting children aged 3-20 who face challenges associated with developmental disabilities and intellectual disorders. You will engage directly with these children and their caregivers, building trust and rapport to facilitate meaningful therapeutic relationships. Each session is tailored to meet the unique needs of the client, ensuring that interventions are relevant and actionable.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is essential to qualify for this position.

• An active and unrestricted LMFT license is required to practice in the state of Connecticut.

• Candidates must be available for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week, primarily during after-school hours (4-7 PM), with potential for weekend sessions.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience providing positive behavior support in therapeutic or educational settings.

• Prior work with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities is highly valued.

• A valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle to facilitate home visits when necessary.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is mandatory for this role.

Compensation and Benefits\n
