Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough trauma-informed assessments to understand each patient's unique trauma history and mental health needs.

• Develop tailored treatment plans aimed at facilitating recovery and fostering resilience against trauma.

• Utilize evidence-based interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to assist clients in processing their traumas.

• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions that encourage coping strategies, emotional expression, and create a healing environment for all participants.

• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each patient's care.

• Provide immediate crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, prioritizing patient safety and stabilization.

• Educate patients and their families on trauma responses, coping skills, and available community resources to enhance their understanding and recovery process.

• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation aligned with legal and ethical standards, contributing to the client's treatment journey.

• Participate in regular consultations and team meetings to discuss case progress and share insights focused on trauma-informed practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The clients you will work with at Better Living Counseling Center include individuals who are coping with the aftermath of trauma, including complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and dissociative disorders. Our diverse client base reflects a variety of backgrounds and experiences, allowing you to engage with and support patients from different walks of life. This role is critical in helping clients reclaim their narrative and live fulfilling lives beyond their trauma.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid state licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW.

• Strong foundational knowledge of trauma-related disorders and modalities of trauma-informed treatment.

• Proficiency in utilizing trauma-focused therapeutic approaches to support recovery.

• Excellent communication skills, coupled with a compassionate and empathetic demeanor when working with clients.

• Capability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professionalism in high-stress situations.

• Skilled in the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and related technology.

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a collaborative treatment environment.

Preferred Experience\n

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is preferred, a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for helping others in trauma recovery are essential. Experience with individual and group therapy settings focusing on trauma recovery will enhance your effectiveness in this role. Familiarity with community resources within the Austin area is a plus, as it enables tailored referrals for patients needing additional support.
