Full-Time Community-Focused Nurse Practitioner in Schools

Little Bless Nurse Practitioners is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team in Staten Island, New York. Work Environment

This position is primarily onsite at designated schools in Staten Island, providing a nurturing environment that encourages collaboration and connection with students, staff, and families. The typical work schedule runs from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with some evening hours until 8:00 p.m. for special clinics. Participation in community outreach events and health fairs on weekends will also be a vital component of your role. Expect to work approximately 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments and screenings, including physical exams, developmental assessments, and mental health evaluations for students and their families.
• Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic health conditions, providing necessary preventive care and health promotion strategies tailored to the unique needs of the school population.
• Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and community organizations to develop and implement health education programs, addressing topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and mental health awareness.
• Advocate for students’ healthcare rights, providing culturally sensitive and individual-focused care. Support families in navigating healthcare access and resources.
• Maintain accurate, detailed medical records in accordance with regulatory requirements, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with best practices.
• Participate in community outreach and engage in health fairs to conduct screenings and promote health resources to families.
• Stay informed about current public health trends, evidence-based practices, and relevant health policies impacting the community.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily serve the student population within the local schools, addressing a spectrum of health concerns while fostering a supportive environment. This includes engaging with children of all ages, their families, and school staff, providing a comprehensive focus on both physical and mental wellness, tailored to the diverse backgrounds and needs of the community.

Qualifications

• Current Nurse Practitioner certification and an active New York state nursing license.
• A Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of three years of clinical experience, ideally focused in community health, school health, or public health.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and diverse populations.
• A strong commitment to social justice, health equity, and advocating for vulnerable communities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in school or pediatric nursing is highly desirable.
• Prior involvement in community outreach initiatives or public health projects.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and other healthcare technologies used in school health settings.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $180,000 to $200,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
